And we're back in action!

I'm impressed. I reported the problem with my laptop (purchased in the US) to Dell Germany yesterday morning at about 10AM. Today (Tuesday), a technician with a new drive stopped by my house at about noon. Now I'm busy restoring from backups, after installing Ubuntu Gutsy.

While it's certainly been a big disruption, I'm impressed with Dell's customer service.

I've always had a good impression of their customer service; unfortunately I've had ample opportunity to test it. I think that sums up my opinion of Dell perfectly.

It appears that their service contract is with Unisys - that's what the receipt said here, and also once when there was a problem with a Dell server at a company I worked for in Italy.

Wow! Something like on-site service is really possible in Austria?
